Immigrate to Canada

Canada offers several pathways to permanent residence, each suited to different professional, family, and personal circumstances. Caruso Law helps clients identify the most efficient route available to them.

Express Entry

Express Entry manages applications for three federal economic programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program – for skilled workers with foreign work experience
  • Canadian Experience Class – for individuals with qualifying skilled work experience in Canada
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program – for qualified tradespersons

Candidates are ranked under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and the highest-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence.

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Most provinces and territories operate their own nomination streams targeting workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs who meet local labour-market needs. A provincial nomination adds significant points under Express Entry or can lead to a direct application, depending on the stream.

Quebec-Selected Skilled Workers

Quebec operates its own selection process, separate from federal Express Entry, for skilled workers intending to settle in the province.

Family Sponsorship and Business Immigration

Individuals may also become permanent residents through sponsorship by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident family member, or through business immigration streams such as the Start-up Visa Program. See our Become a Canadian Citizen and Invest in Canada pages for details on those pathways.
